From BluWiki
This wiki is a community forum for all who have an interest in police reform, as I have (www.policereform.org). I have mapped police activities in Mexico and provided links to further research concerning each incident within each marker balloon on the map (Police Reform Mexico). Additional information or clarification of activities (or anything else that my be relevent) that are submitted to this wiki will be linked from the Mexico Mapping website.
Any questions, concerns or comments please contact me at wmckay@gmail.com --Walter 12:05, 9 February 2007 (EST)
If you have visited the Mapping site (Mapping the Police) you will see that there are some video links to events which occurred in Oaxaca and San Salvador Atenco. Any personal accounts or updates can be posted here and I will link them to the Map.
And, of course, if there are other geographical areas of concern, do not hesitate to include them here as well and I will Map them accordingly.--Walter 10:02, 10 February 2007 (EST)
It seems that video-recording the police is not only a step towards police accountibility for many countries (Cell Phone Activism), in California, it may become law as seen in this press release(News Release):
California Petition Would Require Audio-Visual Record of Contacts Between Police and Public February 15, 2007 News Release
A notice posted on California Secretary of State Debra Bowen's Web site outlines a petition that would "require peace officers to create an audio-visual recording of all contacts with or searches of citizens." The petition "Requires that a copy of the recording be provided to affected citizens who are arrested and charged with a crime."
The costs are unknown, said the notice, but could potentially cost "hundreds of millions of dollars on a one-time basis, with ongoing costs in the tens of millions of dollars."
